The Benefits of tracking!
So, I've been disappointed with my progress, or lack thereof, this month (May) but especially this week. Even after my "extreme" (for me!) excercise on Monday, not only has the scale not gone down....it went UP!!!!!!!!!
Now, I've noticed on various groups that many women put TOM after their recorded weight. It took me awhile but I finally figured out what it meant! See, I haven't had a true TOM in 10 years, at least not a visible one. But I looked back at my progress and noticed that I do go up a pound at about the same time every month. Not only that, it is the same date (number) as the first day of my last period. Hmmmmm, I may not have all the equipment, but I do still have the hormone parts! I'm hoping that this is accounting for some of the gain.
Even after my hysterectomy I noticed that I would get grumpy and out of sorts occasionaly and get headaches at about the same time. Before MFP I never really noticed a pattern because I wasn't keeping track of anything. But today....It Clicked! I must be having a period!!!! At least, I kind of hope that is what it is, I would hate to think I just gained a pound for no reason!
More benefits of tracking:
I'm saving money! I don't eat out as often and I don't buy as much food for myself. I still have to buy food for the rest of the family, but they eat some of mine as well!
When we do go out, I usually save my calories for food instead of wine or drinks. That way we also have a DD! This saves money at the restaurant as well as potential legal charges!
I don't drink as much at home, adult beverages that is. Although some days I'm not sure that's so great! And so, I save money!
I'm more aware of my activity in general. I've always parked in far parking spots, taken stairs when possible, all that stuff. But I'd come home and have the kids go downstairs to get something from the freezer or upstairs to get something out of the closet. Now, I do it myself. I don't log it, but it has made me more active. Not sure if this saves money or not, but it does save time and they say "time is money"!
I get NEW clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, this does not save money. And I have not saved enough to cover the cost of the new clothes, but...I might have to start tracking that as well!
