Call her friends mom and say your daughter thinks she may have left her iPod there.. could she take a look for you.

I like that idea. Anything else could get so awkward. I would also throw in, I think my daughter let your daughter borrow it a few weeks ago and they just "forgot" about it...

And honestly, I would hesitate to trust someone again after that. Esp. at that age I wouldn't want my daughter to think that type of friendship is ok.

    Good luck!

This....or call her mom and say that you think it may have gotten mixed in with her daughters things when she spent the night, and see if she can search around for it.

This is the best thing. It's non accusatory. And if the girl knows you told her mom, she might fess up or say "oh yeah! it's in my room!" when she meant to steal it the whole time.

Lock her in a basement and blast Bieber on repeat until she cracks.

Remember...she is 14, she may like that

I like a lot of the responses on here so far but honestly, your child seems responsible and if this "friend" is stealing maybe it is time your daughter stops hanging out with her before this behavior gets your child into trouble. She may know better but peer pressure is a bi*ch at that age. Maybe she can get another ipod if that is a possibility and hopefully she can move on from this other girl.
