30lbs down... still haven't dropped a pant size... really?!

So, this morning I hit 30.4 lbs lost..... but I still have not dropped a pant size (hence the name of the topic)! I have dropped a size in tops... and I know that I'm pear shaped so I'll lose weight up top first and all that jazz, but this is kinda nuts.... my pants are looser (and I'm not complaining, by any means), but still it's weird. I know it'll eventually drop.... so no worries there....

I JUST WANNA DROP A PANT SIZE!!! AHHHHHHH! (tantrum over) I think actually losing a pant size would solidify my weight loss because though I can see it on the scale, my perception is that I'm still 30 lbs heavier.....

Anyone else share in my plight? I just wanna make sure I'm not a freak of nature (well, not as much of a freak of nature)....

I've always been like that too. The last time I lost any significant amount of weight was around 5 years ago and I lost 40 lbs and you could barely tell. I BARELY fit into 16's but I could in some styles of jeans. But still....40LBS! lol!

I'm doing better this time around since I'm measuring and I'm doing more exercising then I did last time which is making a difference. :)

I have the exact opposite problem. I lose in my legs and hips, but not so much in my tummy, so now, after having lost 60 lbs, I feel like my tummy is disproportionately big compared to my lower body. I'd rather have your problem. Huge tummy just looks yucky!

It takes me losing 40 pounds before anyone can tell any difference, because my face stays slim whether I gain or not. And I have the same problem with pants. But...I guess it's different, cause I'm a guy. When we get fat, it just goes to our stomach usually.
  • 36 gone and I am just now starting to fit in a smaller size. Not even all of them. I feel your pain

Its been the oposite for me. I went down 2 pant sizes before I lost a pound. Everyone is different. Just keep working everything will fall into place. After 6 months of no weight loss I have finally started to see the scale go down. No matter what, our health is improving!

It took me 20lbs to drop a pant size. And it was frustrating as hell. I think I've blown through the next pant size 8lbs later, but haven't checked. All I know is that I feel great! Congrats on your weight loss and don't let your pants get you down!

It's because you're pear shaped. I've lost between 15 and 20 lbs, am at my goal weight, and still wear the same size. If I'm lucky, I can squeeze into one size smaller, but not consistently. I've lost 1.5" around my hips, and that's IT. I refuse to lore more weight just to get into one size smaller. Cheers to everyone out there with badonkadonks! :drinker:

Psssssh! Boobs... gone! I wish I still had them!!!
  • Don't lose hope. When I started, it took 25-30 lbs lost to change pants sizes. But now It is more like 10-15 lbs to go down a pant size. Just keep up the good work! :-)

I have the opposite problem, I have lost 47 pounds and gone from a size 20 to a size 14 on the bottom. But the "girls" are still dominating! Would like to lose more on top.

I'm the exact same. I've lost 3 top sizes, and not one pant size. I've lost the same amount of weight as you.

It's frustrating, I've always been fat but I at least had a "fat" hourglass and now i'm becoming pear shaped.

At least I haven't lost anything up top! Lol =P I'd be more than willing to share some of mine with you though!

Just curious as to what exercise you are doing? If you are just dieting you will get a smaller version of yourself, but in all the same proportions you are now. If you lift weights, it will completely change your body shape and give you nice muscle tone!! I have lost my weight by watching my calories, but also by lifting weights as my primary exercise. I am down one full size and getting ready to go down another size. When you lift weights, you burn many more calories than you realize and you burn many more after your workout. Just a suggestion if you are frustrated. A great book on the subject is New Rules of Lifting for Women, you might want to check it out. I wish you lots of success!!!!

It just means when you do start dropping pant sizes it's going to happen FAST and a few at a time. Keep up the losses, those are amazing numbers.

here's my theory: I was wearing kind of like stretch jeans and they were too tight, but wearable....over the course of months I stretched them out.......No that Im 10 lb down they still are too tight! I guess because I "may" have been wearing them 2 sizes too small to begin with that they still arent falling off by no means, so in actuality I am down 2 sizes..follow me? Maybe thats not your case but its a theory why I/We are still in the same pants after losing some poundage....howeverI I am also not a pear shape either, more like a banana, or ruler?

I typically walk/hike trails, 30DS, lift weights, dance.... AND ACTUALLY, I JUST ORDERED THAT BOOK YESTERDAY! Cannot wait to read it! I'm not frustrated, as I've always had hips and butt, but I just find it kinda "meh".....

Yes girl we feel ya!! I'm 40+ lbs overweight and barely filling a "B" cup....if **scratch that** WHEN I reach my goal weight I'll probably be in an "A" cup!! Oh well, I'd rather be HEALTHY!!

I had the opposite, and it was equally frustrating. I'd buy new pants and a week later I'd need new ones but my massive arms remained massive. Our bodies lose where they want and sadly we can't do anything about it!

Are you tall? I know that being tall myself, it takes a lot more for me to drop a size. I am down 52 and only down 2 sizes so far. On shorter people that would be a huge difference in clothing size.

I am the same - never really had much up top and that is the first place I lost. It does have an upside - I can wear cute tank tops with built in bras and not have to worry that I don't have enough support and I can also go without one if a bra would show (backless dress).
