I do CrossFit multiple times per week and at the same time am training for a Sprint Tri at the end of June and a longer distance uber hilly bike ride in October.

I'm considering doing a 60 day Paleo Challenge with my box but am concerned how it will impact energy levels and training for longer distance events. I am very much not into fad dieting and live am striving to live a healthy lifestyle and eat clean.

Does anyone have any experience with eating paleo and training for marathons/triathlons/long distance bike rides?

Thoughts?

When I did my initial 30 day paleo challenge I was doing CrossFit 3x a week while training 4x a week for a half marathon. My energy levels were actually HIGHER than when I was eating a 70% carb-centric vegetarian diet. I didn't get sluggish on Paleo like I did as a vegetarian. My "carb-loading" meals involved a potato and I would eat a banana on race morning. During runs, i stuck to my Gu Chomps (NOT paleo) since I didnt like the homemade paleo versions that I saw recipes for.

Personally no experience, but we have several paleo lifestyle members at my tri club and they turn in pretty impressive times at events.(Conversely there are a number of highly successful vegan endurance athletes out there too - I think it all comes down to programming your diet for your energy needs)
