Hello,
A little about me: I am no stranger to weight loss as I have been maintaining a 100+ lb loss for 3.5 years now--and I attribute most of my success to a similar food/exercise journal (nothing as cool as this massive multi-user site). Working out 6 days a week helps too but food monitoring has definitely been key for me. One thing I've noticed is that people that lose and maintain weight loss typically kept a food journal. I also recognize those are just statistics and everyone is different as different strokes work for different folks.
So, for the past two months I tried an experiment. I thought I could stop my food tracking and just estimate my calories (because heck, I've been measuring for 3 years now--I must be a master of judging my intake!). That experiment was a failure (a 20lb failure). I am now back to tracking calories, which isn't really a chore as I'm very use to it--and if that's what it takes to get me back to my 123lb loss I'm going to do it! I anticipate most others after that much time would be able maintain without tracking--but not me haha! Perhaps a few more years...
Anyway, I could definitely use more motivation, so if you have some, throw it my way and I will reciprocate the favor!
A few of my friends have said they are going to start using this site so I'm glad I took a gander as I like what I see--a huge community of people helping each other meet healthy goals.
Have a great weekend,
Lenny
