I'm not sure but maybe you should invest in a Heart Rate Monitor.

There are a lot of variations to choose from and they can track you hear rate (obviously lol) and calories. Make sure you read the "Product Feature" section on whatever sounds interesting.

Typical kettlebell workouts tend to clock in around 16-20 cals burned per minute. Of course that will depend on your bodyweight and fitness level. I know nothing about the routine in the kettleworx program you mentioned, so I can't speak on that.

I will add that I've noticed that the kettlebells the people use in the kettleworx commercials are much, much smaller than the ones people normally use. Like 50% lighter or more on certain exercises. So I'd figure that would lower your calorie burn substantially.

I typically only burn 5-7 cals per minutes. That does include warmup and rests between reps. I use as heavy a kettlebell as I can, and my workouts are more strength-building than aerobic.

I can believe that. When I saw the commercial it was late night and I wasn't really paying attention. I just went online and watched a sample video and I can readily believe that it would be half or less of what kettlebells normally do. Besides for the bells being much much lighter, so are the exercises. They show their version of the kettlebell swing several times and I had to check to make sure I wasn't seeing it in slow motion. It's like they took all the power from the hips out of it.

That's still better than nothing, and if you enjoy it by all means keep going. But I thought the point of kettlebells was that you burn more calories per minute so you can have shorter, more effective workouts?

Depends on why you are doing it. I am doing it as strength building. I use a 25 lb kettlebell, and just ordered another so I can start double kettlebell exercises. I run 3 days a week (4-6 miles each time), so that is my aerobic, high calorie burning exercise. I typically burn 200, sometimes 300 cal for my kettlebell workouts (30-45 min). If I really want to up the burn, I could do some more Tabata-type sets of swings, etc.
