What I eat is not YOUR business

Today I hit the 50 pound mark. 50.2 lbs to be exact.

I travel a lot for work lately. I try to make good, healthy decisions on the road and always log BEFORE I eat. It is hard. I submit expense reports for all of my meals with receipts. Restaurant receipts show total price while Panera and Chick Fil A (the only fast food I do) show what you eat.

I submitted my most recent expense report last week and when I was in my boss's office yesterday...

"You got 18 nuggets at Chick FIl A??? Wow! I could never eat that many!!"

Um, that is only 250 calories. And they were grilled. And I get a salad instead of fries (total meal: 435 calories)

AND...I have NOTICEABLY LOST 50 LBS!!! While traveling, while eating. Don't make judgement calls on my choices.

And yes, Chick Fil A may not have been the best choice, but I was short on time, options were limited and hey, I like Chick Fil A.

On an NSV note, 50 lbs ago I would have been mortified at someone criticizing my food. I would have separated receipts out to have a "traditional" meal and only expensed that while still ordering something else on my own dime.

Most importantly, congrats on your success!!! Thats just terrific in all bits!

Secondly, your boss is a jerk! Joke or no...very unprofesh.
At our work, theres a new policy where we must submit food receipts that list out everything too but its to indicate whether you're eating alone or also paying for someone else's meal. My gripe there is....b*tch, what if i just like to eat a lot and still under per diem?! If someone ever questioned how much food I'm eating, I'm gonna sue there @SS.

congrats on your success. 50 pounds is amazing.

as far as the boss comment...maybe he/she was just making a comment in general. even to me, 18 pieces of chicken seems alot although I could easily inhale 40 of those.

I wouldnt automatically assume it was a mean comment. If it was...laugh it off...you know what you are doing

Wow, that is brazen! But on a side note....50 lbs!!!!!! That is so incredible. It totally over shadows any snarky ignorant remark about chicken nuggets!

I hate people commenting on what I eat, or how much of it I eat.

Regardless of how the comment is meant, it is wrong for people to do that. It's that sort of behaviour that makes people feel guilty about food or puts them off eating in public; developing bad associations with food is never a good thing, and your boss should learn to be more mindful of making comments on people's intake.

    What the hell's wrong with Chick-Fil-A ?

It's a good product and meat is good for you.

When you're travelling, the best possible thing you can eat is a "just meat" option, of course. (Like that In-N-Out Burger "low carb" burger with no bun, for instance.)

    Whoever said that was silly!
