I hurt my Rotator Cuff...

A couple of weeks ago I hurt my shoulder while doing turbo fire.... left it alone for a while and the pain was not getting any better, infact it was worse at times, especially in the mornings when I woke up.
My husband basically told me to go to the doctor's; I did. he told me I hurt my rotator cuff and perscribed some anti-inflamatory medicines and ice three times a day.
He gave me explicit instructions - no exercising for three weeks minimum and I can't pick up my son (44 lbs - 3 1/2 yrs old) for the same amount of time as well. He said if its not better in 2 weeks then I will have to get an ultra-sound and see if I tore a muscle as well.
I am worried that my progress is going to be lost... I have worked so hard to get down these 30-35 lbs, and have gained a lot of strength and stamina.
what can I do that won't hurt my shoulder.... does anyone have any suggestions.... staying still for three weeks does not seem like a viable option but I won't do anything that causes friction or bearing any type of weight....

I had 97% tear of the right rotator cuff repaired 4 years ago with surgery . Walking with very limited arm swing was my only choice.0
