Gross vs. Net exercise cals

I saw a post on here a little while back about gross vs. net exercise calories. How do you log them? I have always logged my exercise cals according to what my HRM tells me...but in the back of my mind I am always thinking that if I wasn't exercising my body would still be burning calories naturally just by being alive...so I don't want to overestimate.
There is a website out there where you can calculate your net exercise calories, and I think I am going to start doing that (just need to remember the site.) I think you basically take the cals you burned and subtract out your TDEE/24 if you were to workout for an hour (24 hours in a day, it will tell you how many cals you burn naturally every hour).
Thoughts?
