BTW, the protein in cottage cheese IS whey...

Yes, but I feel it's better to eat whole foods, rather than grainy, powdery shakes. Not a fan of the protien powder sludge. I try to eat organic, whole foods. It's like the difference between juicing and eating the whole fruit. Maybe it's psychological, but it just seems healthier to me.
Plus, I'm not trying to attain a muscular frame. I like my girlish figure. =)

Protein is protein - 100g of 'food' protein (assuming complete proteins) v 100g of whey protein, micronutients aside, will do pretty much exactly the same thing re muscle development.

That seems extreme. Have you talked to a GI specialist about this?
Ideological discussions aside, you are an omnivore so meat should not be an issue unless there is a medical issue of some sort.
Whole foods are typically the better way to go, with supplementation to be used to um... to supplement the shortfalls from not enough whole foods as opposed to replacing them altogether.

While I use whey as a supplement, I would not want it as my primary protein source.

Riiight. Thank god you picked up on the fact that I'm trying to muscle up like a man. Because whey protein does that. But not if it's in cottage cheese.

To each his own but I didn't say anything about your goals. I merely saidthat I don't try to eat 120g of protein a day because that does not fit into my diet plan or goals. I prefer to get nutrients from whole foods. Then I complimented myself. Where did I mention you in there?

The commentary was about the TYPE of protein, not the AMOUNT of protein. The poster was not even referring to your post - she was responding the the OP.

The response implies that whey powders make you "attain a muscular frame" that she doesn't want and she said she "likes her girlish figure." These statements imply that attaining a muscular frame as a goal makes you look like a man. (It is actually very hard for a woman to bulk up "like a man" btw.)

She directly quoted the other poster. If I was the other poster, I would think she was implying my whey powder intake and my goals of gaining muscle made me want to be a man as well. ::shrug::

Eat more seafood. It has heaps of protein for a low amount of calories.

This. I eat fish twice a week. Those are the days I'm usually way over on protein. Most other days, I'm at or slightly above my protein, and that's with no meat and one dairy product (yogurt). I eat nuts, peanut butter, beans, oatmeal (yes, there's protein in that), tofu, and, when I need it, my own protein shake concoction (using unflavored soy powder, because I get enough sugar elsewhere).

I'm with ya on that - I chose to ignore that rather ridiculous statement.

I don't believe in this paleo diet. I do think you should try to not to eat too many processed food, but science is amazing! I encourage anyone to take advantage of it if it benefits them.

Yes, because excess refined sugar, toxic chemicals, hormones, plastic, bugs, and rat feces are DELICIOUS! If you've ever seen the inside of a food processing plant, you'd change your mind.

do you grow your vegetables or hunt your meat or fish? If not, all your food goes through warehouses and plants as well.

I am not easily swayed by hype and fads.

Research is your best bet on this... as someone mentioned there are plenty of other nutrients in meat that you might not be getting from a drink.
