What's the units of measure for my sugar intake?

I've just started tracking the amount of sugar that's in my food diary, along with protein, fat, fibre and iron....the only issue is I don't know what the measuring units are. For example my daily allowance of sugar is something like 31 - is that grams or what?!

indeed it is grams, the standard number looks like it might be the US FDA advisory limit on "added sugars" whereas the nutritional data will just be "sugars" of all sorts.0
