Confused about bodymedia fit system

So I am on amazon looking up Body media products. I see the following
BodyMedia FIT Advantage Armband Weight Management System for $99
BodyMedia FIT LINK Armband Weight Management System for $147.64
BodyMedia FIT CORE Weight Management System for $131.56
I cannot figure what is essential or not. For example if I get the first one, would I be just getting the armband and will still need to buy other products?
What do I need to see how much calories I am burning daily? Also are there other products just as effective but cheaper?
Thanks in advance or your assistance.

Never got a response, trying again. Also, would you prefer bodybugg or fit bit?0

Hi there,
I bought the bodymedia fit core and i'm happy with it. I think the only difference between the one I have and the "link" one, is that the Link has bluetooth capability. Gives you the ability to see real time data on your phone. I didn't care for that and basically sync my band throughout the day or at the end of the day to see my calories ; )
Hope this helps.
One thing I did find useless was the BodyMedia fit Food data base. I don't use it. I use the band to get an accurate calorie #, enter it here on Myfitness pal and also use the food data base here. It's working out just fine.
Good luck!0 -
If you want to be able to see your calorie burn without syncing it into a computer all the time, there's an additional 'counter' you can buy that you wear along with it so you can see where you stand on the go.
The LINK has bluetooth capability so you can sync it with a smartphone and view your calories through that.
Otherwise you just sync it on the computer periodically or at the end of the day to see your calories burned.
I have the LINK and love it.0 -
Thanks, I've been looking online and around the boards. Thinking of going with fitbit instead.0

BodyMedia FIT Advantage Armband Weight Management System for $99: This one is the older model, slightly larger. Does NOT sync via bluetooth
BodyMedia FIT LINK Armband Weight Management System for $147.64: This is the newest model - syncs via bluetooth to a smartphone, so you can monitor constantly all day.
BodyMedia FIT CORE Weight Management System for $131.56 : This i similar to the "Advantage Armband" - does NOT sync via bluetooth, but is smaller/slimmer.
Like Sandeezee, I own a CORE and like it. I see no need to monitor via my smartphone and am happy to plug mine into the computer once or twice a day to monitor that way. I also use MFP to track my food, and just plug the ending daily total (as a daily food estimate) into the BodyMedia program so that I can see my calorie balance each day.0 -
Indecisive. Purchased body link core with display. It was the price that was an issue, but it's what I really wanted. I'm sure I'll love it.0

How do you like it so far? I am thinking about buying it. Had fit bit for a week and an omron HRM hated both. thanks!0

I have the Body Media Fit. I also use the food database here on MFP because it is much more extensive. Then I just enter my daily total onto the BMF site. I think it is a great tool to have and I have lost weight consistantly with it.0

I am glad I bought it. I do exactly the same as Steph. I continue to use MFP database and just enter the total in the bodymedia website. I've not been logging lately food or otherwise, but I wear my bodymedia daily.
They are currently having a great deal on the bodymedia advantage for $99 including a 12 month subscription. Just google bodymedia advantage 12 month subscritpion.0
