Joined a couple of weeks ago after a suggestion by a friend and fellow member. It was just about the time both my knees were giving me fits. couldn't exercise for 10-12 days. I lost 15 pounds the first 3 weeks. Still have about 40 to my goal.
I grew up on a ranch in East Texas and had a busy life with work on the ranch. 6'1" tall and 145 pounds. Went in the military after high school at the same size. After 6 years in the Air Force I'd gained 40 pounds and even at 185 I was still good to go. My lifestyle changed from hard work on the ranch to long work hours and partying. Then after the military I work long hours and travel all over the world. It was easy to not pay attention to the food and exercise. Now I'm 43 years old and saw some pics of me and it was a wake up call to get rid of the gut and feel better.
I started with cutting portions and eating better quality food. Exercise 5 times a week. Now that I've joined MFP, I can watch closer and it's easier to hold myself accountable. My goal is to be at 185-190 by September 24th. I'm on my way.
