Pre-workout breakfast?

So, I'm planning an intense workout tomorrow morning, weights and cardio. Full body including isolation and compound lifting, and at least an hour cardio.
My question is, what should I eat for breakfast to maximise performance, and how far in advance?

Personal preference. Some people workout better after a substantial meal, but others feel it makes them nauseous.
Experiment and find what works for you.0 -
Eat a balanced meal including carbs fat and protein. I would allow 90 minutes between my meal and the cardio portion of the exercise.
Alternately, you could do a lighter carby meal, like a half bagel or soft pretzel or banana a half hour before the cardio if you do cardio first, but you might not perform as well in your lifting. Make sure to refuel with a protein heavy balanced meal soon after your workout if you go for the lighter approach.0 -
Agreed personal preference... I am a eating before and protein shake after person.... On Weightlifting and Cardio days (Monday,WednesdayFriday) I eat a big breakfast (800-1000 calories) 4 pcs. Multigrain toast with All Natural Peanut Butter and Honey, 1 Banana, 1 glass of milk, and a travel mug size Keurig cup of coffee with sugar and creamer (2 tbsp.=70calories)...... I get up around 6:30 a.m. and am at the gym by 8:00 a.m. This works great for me... Just have to see what works best for you......0

When I am going to have a big workout day, about 60 minutes before start time I have grapefruit juice, 2 eggs and oatmeal with lots of fruit in it including prunes which have a lot of good carbs to give me energy. And no, they don't make me race to the bathroom, lol. Sometimes I bring a banana for a mid workout snack to keep my energy up.
