Eat Smart food scale...

OK, I admit that I am a bit of a measuring nut. I always have my measuring cups handy when I make anything. I measure my 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter, cereal, etc. But it's been an eye opener actually weighing the food!! Especially for meat, fruit, and other things that I wasn't sure exactly the cal counts. I LOVE it! But it also makes me realize that I might have been underestimating cals on some things! :grumble:
I just got it from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Digital-Kitchen-Chrome/dp/B002CM6TVI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1249157218&sr=8-1
Anyone else have one??

I've never measured my food with the scale but I do use measuring cups and stuff... maybe I should invest in one. What do you use it for? Whats the benefit compared to other measuring utensils?

Hey Leash! You'd be surprised at that half cup of oatmeal that should weigh 40g weighs closer to 50g if you round the top. Same with peanut butter or anything really! Just to get a more accurate idea of calorie count. Of course I'm a bit OCD and love numbers so I love it! LOL0

Wow good to know! That could really add up too... thanks

I'm really happy with it. It is very easy to use. You can put a bowl on it and hit the tare button and then it takes the scale to zero. Then just add your stuff to the bowl (like yogurt or something you wouldn't want to just set on the scale). Then you can tare it again if you want to add blueberries or something else. VERY easy to use! Comes w/ a booklet that makes it easy to figure the grams of each food to cals. :bigsmile:0 -

Hey girl!!! How are you? Hadn't *seen* you recently! Yes, it is a MUST have. But I must say it is a new obsession... just what I needed!! I figured out exactly 100 cals for my apple earlier, I was shocked that a large apple has 170 cals!!! That's way over the 100 I was figuring... :huh:0 -
I just recently got a food scale as well, one from Target for $30. It's got grams, ounces and lbs measure as well as a "tare" function.
It truly is an eye opener. Lucky for me, I was underestimating the size of my meat when I make wraps so that makes me happy. ^_^
I recommend getting one to everyone on here. Better to be accurate then over or even under estimate.0 -

This has the same thing- grams, ounces, lbs, and love the tare function! It is great for measuring how many ounces of meat to use. I never was sure and 3 or 4 oz makes at least a 30 cal difference in some meats!!0
