Food occasions

How many ppl have events that are centered around food. Next Sunday I'm in a fishing tournament & the awards dinner is going to kill me. I'm not sure yet if I will give myself a goal to set during the week allowing myself to eat available food if I make it ... Or... Just eat before the event.

Eat what you want, just eat in moderation/portion control...its easy, I dont sweat any event. I went to a dinner last weekend...had a burger and some fries, still came in below my calorie goal and lost a lb over the week.0

I would say just enjoy yourself, if this isn't something that happens too often. 1 day isn't going to undo all of your hard work. Life happens, we have to enjoy it.0

I eat small portions of what I want, and try to keep the rest of the day really healthy.0

This happens to me a lot - especially when I have all day meetings where breakfast and lunch are provided. My strategy is to eat breakfast at home and only take fruit off the buffet for breakfast. At the lunch or dinner, just take one serving of whatever you eat and load up on whatever veggies they have. If it's a sit down dinner just eat what they bring you, but skip things like rolls and butter. Either way make sure to eat well the rest of the week and get plenty of exercise. You'll be okay.0

These "food occasions" don't happen often for me. I just enjoy the day and don't worry about it. As long as that occasion doesn't spill into the next day and the day after, I'm fine.0

I go to a lot of events and dinners for work, and I'm still learning to deal with them - they are too often to be a treated as an occasional treat (did I mention I gained 10lbs in my first 2 months by making that mistake).
My three biggest suggestions so far - have a snack before you go so you're not starving, if there are appetizers or a 'snack table' position yourself far away, and eat something before you drink anything (if you're planning on having an alcoholic drink or two). For me, nothing leads to overindulgence faster than a drink on an empty stomach.
I know that these seem like common sense, but they really do make it easier to keep the eating in check.0 -
With the nature of the day ( fishing tournament ) I'm just going to have to plan a good stomach filler snack before the awards.. Although I love beer for some reason it's a lot easier to pass on then food.0
