Lose 8 lb in 12 days? Intelesting, very intelesting..

So I work casual at a supermarket and tonight I was on the express checkouts which have magazine stands at the ends. It was DEAD so me and the other girl who was on started reading through the trashy magazines. You know, the celeb/fad diet/gossip ones. One magazine came with a free book containing a meal plan which claimed to give you a weight loss of 8lb in 12 days if followed exact;y. It claimed no exercise was needed. Um. This seems ridiculous to me. My BMR is 1480cals. To lose 8 lb, I have to burn 28,000 cals. Spread across 12 days, this would mean burning 2333 cals a day. 2333 - 1480 = 853. Doesn't this mean that for their plan to work, I'd not only have to stop eating for the 12 days, but I'd also need to exercise enough to burn 853 a day!? If i've calculated this right, how can anyone believe their claim and HOW does it pay off for them to "guarantee results"? Crazy.
