HRM throughout the day

Today I decided to wear my HRM all day. I started the day riding 5 miles on my bike (11-13 mph), then did a 15 min. mile, Slim in 6 Start It Up!, and finally Pilates . While I was running the mile, I checked the reading on the treadmill against my Polar and they matched exactly. I was relieved that I had been getting the correct readings before I got my Polar F6.
I kept the HRM on while I prepared and cooked dinner. The constant beeping reminded me that while I was doing the cooking, there were short periods of time that I could "get in a mini-workout!" While waiting for my onions to saute, I did jumping jacks, that kind of stuff. While getting things from the fridge, pantry, etc., I sprinted. Anything to help bring up my heart rate for at least 3 minutes at a time. When I was finally done, I checked my HRM readings. I was so surprised! In that short amount of time preparing and cooking dinner, I had burned 576 calories!
I wasn't planning on wearing my Polar to work but, I think it would keep me mindful of the times throughout my daily routines where I can get in some mini-workouts. I think I'll try it for about a week and see what kind of results I get.
What do you all think about this?

Sounds like a fun experiment. I'll be very interested to hear the results. Good luck :drinker:0

That's a great idea. So it gives you little beeps when your heart goes down, or what?
I've always wanted a HRM. Maybe I'll get one.0 -
I love my HRM and have thought about wearing it all day. I might just do that. I have medical issues so I won't be able to do exercising all the time but it might help me to get off my butt and do more throughout the day. Thank you for this.0

Yeah. If you use the "Own Zone" setting, the unit reads your heart rate for a few minutes according to the settings you input like your age, weight, etc. Once it reads what your "zone" should be, while you're exercising, it beeps when you go either too low or too high. I LOVE my Polar F6. I got it on ebay. If you buy one, get one with the chest monitor. They're much more accurate and convenient. I'm at 142 today so I'm anxious to see if I'll show a significant weight loss in one week doing this.

Okay. Today was my first day wearing my HRM all day doing my normal, everyday things. Work, home, dinner, housework, etc. Throughout the day, thanks to the reminder of my HRM, I took advantage of "spirts" of "mini" workouts throughout the day. Jumping jacks, running in place, etc. When I finally took the HRM off and checked the settings, it says that I've burned 1851 calories. Do y'all think that this routine done on a consistent basis could reap TRUE benefits? Wouldn't that be great. I suppose it will take a few weeks of this new "experiment" to really see, I guess.
