About 3 months ago I broke my ankle. I recently just got out of the boot. (last Thursday in fact). I'm just wondering if its to soon to start back to the Y to ride the bike or maybe someone has some ideas on good exercises to do till my ankle is more up to the task. Any tips or help would be great!!

You should see a doctor and get exercises from a physical trainer. I sprained my ankle three months ago -- the worst sprain of my life, and ironically, while doing exercise -- and I'm still recovering. The other day I met a woman on a walking tour who had broken her ankle six months before and she still had issues.

Definitely ask for a referral to a physical therapist to rehab the ankle. As for other exercise, you can do your upper body weights, arm ergometer for cardio, seated punching drills for cardio, mat based Pilates, and use the pool.

I had a badly sprained ankle and wanted to continue exercise so I began swimming. I got a leg buoy that is placed between my thighs so I don't use my legs at all. That really helped me a lot and sort of helped rehab my ankle, especially because I would soak in the hot tub after a good swim and it felt much better all day!
