Hi all
I am trying so hard to lose 60 pounds and I keep falling out of exercise and dieting.
My husband is leaving to go overseas and I want so bad too look extra sexy when he comes back in 5 months. I need some motivation yet all my friends keep backing out when it comes to going to the gym or dieting or anything!
I am stuck here on Guam where everyone eats crap! Everything is extra fatty and on a stick! I need some help here ladies....
Thanks
Katrina

I'm sure there's always fruits and veggies where ever you are.
Fill yourself with fruits, veggies, high-fibers, and healthy grains and nuts.
I have the same problem with no one wanting to exercise with you, try talking leisurely walks with your friends, or even by yourself. You can always do television/video work outs as well.
And for motivation, just think of the things you can do with your loved one when he gets back. :laugh:0 -
Try thinking this way: you don't want to lose weight only, you want to start a new lifestyle. If you stay active, this will improve your mindset, you'll feel energized and positive. Don't think of it as "I'll do it tomorrow". Do it now! :flowerforyou:
I jog better on my own. I don't have to synchronise my rhythm with anybody else, but the beat in my years (I can't jog without music). I've joined aerobic classes mostly on my own. I don't have to fit anybody else's mood or Tom or scheldule, when planning when to go there.Plus, I don't have to worry about what I wear and how I move when nobody knows me. Sounds selfish? Well, maybe it is, but you can also see it as freedom.
On the other hand, if you join a gym or run/walk and eat well andthen lose weight, this might motivate a few and they might wanna join, to get just as good-looking as you. How does that sound as a motivator?
DON'T GIVE UP! You've lost 12lbs already, isn't that just awesome? :flowerforyou:0 -
When you lose hope and you become lazy, you think of your motivations behind your desire to get healthy. You know you have 5 months before your husband comes back. Can you alter your behaviour for 5 months? If so, then you can make it a habit and a lifestyle change.
In my case, although I do like looking better for my husband, I am losing weight for me. I can't let me down when it is time to exercise or when there is some incredibly tempting food in front of me. If I let myself down, who will look after me then?
My motivation is looking at my before picture and seeing where I am now

Look at the above thread and tell me you can't find motivation there. There are people who have lost more than you want to lose and are still going strong. Let them inspire you.0 -

You need to do this for YOU!! You can do it!! Think: I CAN, I CAN, I know I CAN!!! Forget about your friends not wanting to exercise. Do some home work outs. I happen to love Turbo Jam and Chalean Extreme. You may enjoy them as well and you can do them in the privacy of your own home. No friends needed Just you and your willingness to feel healthy and happy. Think: Me, Myself, and I.
I wish you the best of luck! Please. Do not give up!!0 -
When I first started I was having such a hard time motivating myself. So I grabbed a bunch of fitness mags and a large sheet of poster paper. I cut out pictures and sayings to help keep me motivated. I hung it in my bedroom so I would see it first thing in the morning when I got up. I keep my goals right in front of me so I wouldn't forget them. Just remember that you can do ANYTHING!!0

I agree 100%, I have been lazy for about 2 months, gained 7 pounds back but no one but you can get motivation back or have the desire to do this as I have found out. My motivation too is looking at pics of myself at 292 pounds, and how I don't ever want to go back to weighing that. Come on we can do this, and we can do it together.0 -
You must be military. Airforce? We are too. We're in Tennessee though. My husband has to be away sometimes too and I totally understand the "wanting to make a positive change while he is gone", thing. You are off to a good start! You CAN do this. I know there HAVE to be other military wives there who are like you...you just have to find them. Go to the gym anyway. Walk anyway. I wish you were in Tennessee, I'd go with you!! I can be your exercise buddy online if that will help. It's hard for me to go walking or running because I have two little boys and when my guy is out of town, I have no one to watch them while I go. I DO stay VERY active chasing them around though! My husband just got back a couple days ago from being gone. I hope to walk at LEAST three times within the next 7 days. Will you commit to it if I do?

this may help to moitvate you. My husband just retired from the military and those time when he's gone can be so hard (2 deployments to iraq, i know). Give yourself a list of exercises he may be doing runing, situps..what ever you think he could be doing. Give yourself time to do them and remind yourself he could be doing them too at the same time. So you are working out together. It helps you stay motivated and feel close to him when he's gone. Just an idea hope it helps.0

Never been to Guam, but it's island food, right? Is it more like Hawaii or is it more Asian like? An island should have a lot of fresh fish, and local produce. I'd start with that. Make it a challenge to take local cuisine and see what you can do with it in terms of healthy dishes that work for your tastes. If you start with just the basic pure ingredients: just the fish, just the vege, and then cook it yourself, you should be ok. And since Guam is an American territory, it should be a little easier to get some staples that you are used to (like for example, olive oil). Be creative in this challenge, and most important, be positive. You can do it!!!0
