I am just starting my 6th week of healthy living. I just started working out (30 day shred and walking) last week. I have been eatting low carb ( no real reason just have been lol) and I havent been craving any carbs. But since I starting working out I have been craving carbs like crazy. Is that normal? What are healthy carbs? All I know is all of the junk food. I feel myself wavering and I dont wanta go off the deep end. I have done so great so far!!

I find that the cravings are usually just temporary. After I lift weights I have a protein shake and drink 8-16 ounces of water. That usually helps to curb my cravings. On days that I don't do weights I either have a glass of milk and some water or just drink 16 ounces of water to curb the cravings. I used to feel famished and then I would eat any form of carb I could find after a workout, but this strategy has really helped. Hope this helps!!
  • The problem with low carb AND working out is that the body requires the carbs to replace the glycogen stores in your muscles. Low carb is great for sedentary people, but it's a no no for active people. Eat a carby meal (like potatoes) after working out so your body uses that to restore the glycogen. Carbs don't equal junk. You can have sweet potatoes, fruits, lots of veggies. Carbs are not the enemy as long as you don't overdo them. Everything in moderation.
