diets vs. lifestyle changes

Hello all! I'm a bit new here :smile:

I'm curious as to who here has found that temporary diets work best for them vs. long-term lifestyle changes.
Who has done both?

What changes have you made that have worked really well in the long run? (What have you eliminated from your diet altogether, what foods have you replaced or modified?)

For reference's sake...

- 22 y/o (well, almost... My birthday is the 21st of this month!
- female
- 5'0"
- fairly sedentary (I work in an office and spend much of my day sitting on my tush)
- I have about 25 lbs of fat to lose and 10lbs of muscle to gain.

    Lifestyle change. No artificial sweeteners (incl HFCS), I drink mostly water now and my sweet tooth has diminished considerably. Focus on 5 servings of fruits/vegetables per day, crowding out the carbs. I've found that I don't really like french fries as much as I thought I did....
