MFP Nutrition

Ok so I have been using MFP for a couple of months and am loving it. I am however unsure about which nutritional facts I should have under my foods tab? I am looking to lose about 100-120 pounds (have lost 75 in a year but only 17 since my start here in Jan 2012) and am not sure exactly what is most important to be looking at. I know I can switch them out to find out what the rest of the values are but I want something I can look at quickly as I'm on the go a lot. I am not following any specific diet (e.g. high protein low carb what have you) but am just trying to eat healthy. Sugar is one I really need as I can go over quickly and watch it like a hawk lol but any suggestions about what the other should be? Thanks for any help and input on this matter

I think it really is about focusing on your weaknesses. You can always go to Reports and get all your nuturient totals for each day by selecting which ones you want to look at. Also, I'm not sure about Iphone but I have an Android and I can click on "daily" and it will list them all for me in a chart together. I always keep my main ones (the ones that show in your diary when your charting and such) limited to things I'm really trying to pay attention to. For me it's Fat, Calories, Sugar, Protien, Cholesterol...ect. good luck and happy charting!0

I agree it's dependant on your weaknesses. I track iron and calcium (in addition to the regular ones) because I don't eat meat or dairy regularly. I know I'm getting a lot of fiber so I don't worry about it. I get a lot of sugar from fruits and veggies so I don't bother tracking it for now. I don't eat a lot of processed stuff so sodium isn't a concern.
What kinds of foods to you eat often? If you tend to eat out a lot I'd track sodium (it can sneak up on you). If you don't eat a lot of veggies maybe one of the vitamins or fiber? If you eat the same things regularly you could always change it week by week.0 -
If you are doing workouts (and not just calorie watching) you should watch protein. That's important for your muscles after a good workout. Good Luck!0
