I am looking for input. They are bringing it to our town this year and I planned to sign up. Hubby's friend did it last weekend and hated it. Now I am torn. Any thoughts/reviews?

I love it. It was so much fun. A great 5k. If you are looking to do at a quick pace then you need to be in the front. If you are just there for the experience than just enjoy. It does get crowded where the color is but my friend and I did not go through the middle and we walked around and grab color and we were cover in color. I would do it. I will do it again. I have done a lot of 5k and that was awesome.

What didn't the friend like about it? I'm signed up for the Boston one in July and am really excited. One of my mfp pals did it a month ago and loved it! She walked it.

I tried to sign up for the Boston one and it was full so I would definitely sign up soon if you're thinking about it!

I was JUST looking at everything about the Color Run last night. They had 2 here in Atlanta a few months ago. I am hoping to be in better shape by the next time they do it here. It looks like SO much fun!!

A close friend of mine (and a few of my MFP pals) are signed up for one of the Color Runs in DC later on this year. The slots for registration filled up for both runs literally in 2 days!

What did your friend not like about it? They look awesome!

I did Color Me Rad. It was alright. I mean it was fun, but there was just soooo many people. And if you think you are going to run it, forget about it, unless you are in the first or second waves. They are usually not timed, because they are more about fun.

I have some pictures, idk how to post them though.

But definitely wear white, and an old pair of sneakers. I my old black shoes and the dye didn't stick, but my sports bra and tank top I wore are still tie dyed!

I guess he did not like the masses of people and said people were inconsiderate when throwing the "paint". He also complained about how hard it was to clean up. He is very picky about this stuff though.

I loved it! :) it was a blast when we did it this past weekend. We looked like fools, danced, took a lot of pics with ppl, and it was all just a fun time giving money away to a Childrens hospital.

I'm doing the one in KC at the end of the month...I think my "problem" is going to be that I will want to run and it's not prolly gonna happen

I did one last month. It was fun...not a complete blast but fun. There are a lot of people and as long as you just go with the flow and lack of orgnization it is ok. The colored cornstarch is mildly annoying but the kids love it. If you start out towards the end of the race they tend to run out though LOL.

I might do it again with a group of friends (I did the previous solo) just to get out of the house on a weekend and get some exercise.

I think you should try it once to get your own opinion though...what is the worst that could happen? You burn a few extra calories LOL

I did the one in Atlanta. It was loads of fun but do NOT think you are going to run it. I ran to the first color station and after that, it was absolutely impossible to run because of the crowds of people. There wasn't even a clock at the race. But the experience was great. Sign up with friends and plan to have a chat session for the time being.

The volunteers arent very considerate. They got my boyfriend right in the eye. I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose, but common sense I think would tell you not to throw dust in someones face area.

Clean up, you cant really complain, you know what you are getting in to. Two through showers should do it, although I found blue in my ears a week later.

If you arent a fan of crowds, its not as fun either. There is a picture on the color me rad facebook site of the line...during the run. Its worse than being at Disney, its at least a half mile long!! Its a neat expirience though, definitely, i didnt enjoy all of it, but had a good time in general. Its one of those different things that you can say you did.

BE WARNED...I did one yesterday and (3 showers later) still have huge green and purple spots on my torso, and one blue armpit still. They say the paint doesn't stain your skin, but it also says not to get it wet or it might stain. Well...sweat = wet, and if you're doing it outdoors in the summer heat....guess what??

Anyway, I didn't let them throw it on my face or hair (I'm blonde), so its all well hidden at work, but there were people literally rolling around in it, then running through sprinklers along the route. I can't imagine what they look like today!!

EDIT: If you only want to do a 5K to improve a previous running time and aren't intersted in getting a laugh or two along the way, this will not be the run for you. Mine was very informal (guys with stopwatches shouting out finish times that were basically based on you crossing the start line right on the starting bell). Additionally, there were big holdups at the paint stations along the way. I did this with a group of girls from high school so we were there mostly just for fun, and it was a good time. Just don't expect it to be a competitive event. The volunteers at ours were pretty considerate, so reading the other posts, I guess I was lucky I didn't get it right in the face or hair....

Boy, I'm supposed to do one in July and you guys are really making me rethink it! I want to be able to run it. Why call it a run if you can't actually RUN?

I did the So Cal one with a group of friends from school and it was so much fun!! We walked it but a lot of people ran it (although they don't keep time for you). The one I did seems to have been organized differently. They had people go in different waves, and had two different times (morning and afternoon), so it wasn't crowded at the color areas at all! Parking and traffic was a nightmare, but once we got there it was so much fun! Even though our program is done now we are all going to do it again next year!
