Any ladies doing Indianapolis Half Marathon in September

I am planning to do the Indianapolis Women's Half Marathon Labor Day weekend. I was curious if anyone else was training for this race or just anyone training for an upcoming half marathon. I would like to know what your training involves and so on. I have been running steady since the beginning of April. I just ran my first 5K this past Saturday. I crossed the finish line at 32:46. I am planning to run 2 more 5Ks in July. My goal is to get 30 mins and under. I am also joining the Team 13 YMCA running group in July to start getting in more long runs to prepare for the half marathon. I am very nervous. I have never been a runner but can say now that I love it and it's very addicting!

I'm doing this race!!! It's my first half and I'm starting an official training program June 23rd. It basically consists of 3-4 runs every week and increasing my mileage each week. I'm not worried about time (although I want to finish under 3.5hrs), I just want to say that I did it!
I did the 5K at the Mini in May and I finished in 37:14. It sounds like you have a plan in place - I know a lot of people say having a running group really helps (I have a running partner, which helps push me).
I've never been a runner either, but I'm learning to love it :)

Awesome run for your 5K! It sounds like you got a good plan in place too! I'm just hoping to finish under that time also and like you to say I did it. My two sister in laws are doing the half also. They live in Indy. I'm down in southern Indiana so we aren't able to train together. This training program will consist of 3 runs weekly with increas in mileage each week. I'm currently running 3-4x a week by myself. I go for 3-4 mile runs depending on time.

Yep, signed up. There is a 13 week long training program offered by the organizer who manages this race...if you go to www.kenlongassoc.com and click on the Indianapolis Women's Training program link, there's more info. I tend to do my best training within a community so I am definitely doing the training program. Have run several half marathons but have gotten lazy with training, so my times have been stagnant for over a year. Oops. Other groups within indy also have training programs this summer. Also if you google half marathon training on the web you'll get programs by hal higdon and others about weekly training distances and intensities.
