Went for a run last night outside. Been taking it easy with running outside as my glutes are at me so my hips/lower back are sore.
Made it thru the run (50mins stopping every now and again for a 30second walk) but I am sore today. It hurts to walk. Came downstairs with my 2+half yr old on my hip, sore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ice bath is out of the question for me. Made another appointment with a physio to see if she can do anything additional. Been doing the stretches she told me to do but it's obviously not enough.
Going to the gym tonight....LOW impact stuff plus weights.
What do other people do to get over this kind of running pain?

When I first started running there were time that my glutes were killing me.
It sounds like you may be trying to do too much or going too fast. How long have you been running? Perhaps you could try slowing down your pace and take more walking breaks. Warm up using dynamic stretching .....this is more-or-less the wram up I use:

and lots of stretching & a foam roller after each run.
You may also want to strengthen your glutes & hips:

Thanks so much for those links, I had a quick look just now. Great articles and things I need to start doing ASAP!!!!!!
I've been running on/off for a year now. Pace hasn't increased a whole lot, I just came back from 1 run about a month ago and I was very stiff/sore. Suppose I wasn't stretching those area's enough and it caught up on me.
I've made another physio appointment for next week and no running til then. Went to the gym last night but did cross-trainer and rower. Back was a bit stiff on the rower but ok.
Thanks again for the links and info!0 -
I was aching on the knee as I was doing continuous running, strengt, cardio back to back almost everyday. Getting up from the chair and i was like an old woman, holding my back. Decided to give myself 1 full day complete rest from all exercises. Felt so much better after that, in fact did better on my strength training after that 40 hours of rest. The muscles might need some time to recover, give enough time for the muscles to rest.0
