I need help and encouragement and ideas...

Okay here comes my outpouring of feelings and emotions.
It's so unfair that some people don't EVER work out and they eat all they want and they look perfect. And here I am counting every. single. calorie. And working out the best I know how. And I still look like a cow in a bathing suit. It's not fair and I don't know what I'm doing wrong and I feel like such a FAILURE. Yes, over the last year I have lost a good bit of weight, and I am PROUD of myself, but I don't want the accomplishments and achievements to end! I want to keep the process going and keep taking it further and further! It's like everyone around me gets all these amazing results and I stay stuck. I'm trying SOO HARD but with almost no reward for my efforts other than feeling awesome after a hard workout. I am almost ready to go to a doctor to be like WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY METABOLISM!!!! My thyroid is regulated...I drink tons of water....Work out....Eat right (not perfectly but heck, who is perfect? If I go into food jail then I'll binge and bingeing is BAD!)
Please send some encouragement and some ideas for getting through this big weight loss and fitness WALL that seems to be blocking me from getting everything I want. I have all this ambition and goals...but I just feel really stuck and frustrated and defeated. I do push myself really hard at the gym but I think having a trainer tell me what to do may help, but I don't have the time or resources for a trainer. OY. Help. Thanks.

Congrats on your success so far! It sounds like you've been following a healthy, sustainable plan!
Now....for the nitty gritty. You need to stop stressing. You are only 10lbs from your goal. It takes most people a long time to lose the last 10-20lbs. Keep working at it and it will happen. But honestly, at this point you should stop stressing about the scale and start focusing on how you look and how your clothes fit. Do you want to tone up certain areas? Fit in a size smaller jeans? Work towards those goals instead.
And you need to change your attitude about yourself. If you think you are a "cow" when you are only 10lbs away from your goal, do you honestly think you are going to feel good when you do reach it? 10lbs isn't that much. It might not even be that noticeable. You need to reevaluate your opinion of yourself. Once again, stop focusing on the scale and start working on your body composition. You will be much happier than if you just chase a number.0 -
Loras post is pretty much perfect.
I dont know what you do at the gym but my main recommendation at this point would b to focus more on weight lifting, heavy lifting....and less on cardio.0 -
I love Lora! She is EXACTLY right! I was and kinda am in a plateau..my weight loss slowedddddd way down the closer I got to my goal. As you can see from my ticker I'm ALMOSTTTTTT there...but no cigar...the crazy thing is that when I get there I plan on changing my goal further down. The difference now is I discovered fat2fitradio.com and I listen to their podcasts frequently to remind me that slow weight loss is optimal. I focus on fitness goals versus scale goals (yes I still weigh myself almost daily but it doesn't determine my mood like it used to) as for those skinny people that don't have to count calories..I married that person. My husband has to TRY VERY HARD to GAIN weight...he can plow thru several meals at one sitting. I also have a coworker that has the same metabolism I remind myself that doesn't make them healthier and I feel stronger in knowing that I have to work harder at it.0

oh yeah and I switched my focus to body fat percentage and do strength train and was using new rules to lifting but switched to stronglifts this week.0

I totally understand! And I know you are kicking butt and taking names!!!
You look amazing! Dont doubt that. It is like we talked about before, our bodies are just built different from the gals you are talking about. I want you to repeat after me dear, "I am beautiful, I am beautiful, I am beautiful!"
You are doing everything you can to be a radiantly healthy person! Even encouraging others to take the steps they need to do the same!:flowerforyou:
Lets get together soon over some coffee (or an elliptical) and geek out over macro numbers, and personal goals.
You are amazing, Miss thang, dont doubt it!
I think you just need a good long look through someone elses eyes.
If you can, try to wake up and take a few minutes to thank your body for what it does for you everyday. Thank your legs for moving you around, stomach for holding and processing all the good foods you choose the eat everyday, yours arms for helping you to work, etc. etc....all the places and parts that you feel arent worth your appreciation.
And even if nothing changes, you are still running circles around folks who dont give a rip about their health. Do it for you, not for anyone else, and not to look like anyone else.
You are doing amazing girl!
We have got this!0 -
Wow you are all so amazing!!!! I asked for encouragement and you certainly delivered.
You're right, I can be a harsh critic of myself a lot of times. I have a bad habit of comparing myself to other people. It's a habit I have to work daily to break. But I'm working on it. You guys are a great reality check for that.
I am so close to my "goal" I can hardly see straight. And it's not so much about the weight but about the muscle tone. I want it SOO BADLY but feel like I just can't grasp it. I need all the suggestions for breaking through this plateau!!
I'm learning about how each of our bodies are made differently but in the most frustrating fashion, I am eating the same and working out the same as these REALLY FIT people I know and they sit there and get amazing results and I get nada. I mean I know my thyroid is slow but COME ON hahahaha. But we are all different and I just need to find what works for me. I feel like I'm on a never ending search. I guess this is the healthy life though! A life-long journey that we commit ourselves to. I just want to know that I'm doing everything the best I can and in the right ways.
Thank you ALL for your encouragement and please feel free to send tips and suggestions for fitness and nutrition that have worked for you. You're all inspirational!0 -
Beck- YOU are kicking booty and taking names! I want to pick your brain and learn all I can from you! Mom keeps telling me all about the success you are having and that is just too cool for words! So proud of you!!!!0

We are in the same boat sistah! That last ten pounds is just (as your mom calls it) a buggaboo!
It drives me crazy to get on the scale and not see change, or even some days gain weight after I have been working so hard! Heck today I found out that my Body fat percentage is higher now than when I started! How about that blow to the gut!
But I look different and feel better, so I am going to go with that.
And the same goes for you! You look amazing, and if you are feeling better, then way to go!!!:drinker:0
