How long until muscles begin to degenerate?

I know that it takes a few days after a workout for muscles to get fully recovered. But at what point does the body finish recovering the muscles and begin to let them fade? That is, without more exercise involved to keep up the muscle.

I'm not sure on this one. But my trainer never has me do the same muscle groups more than once a week.
Day1: back and bis
Day 2: cardio/rest
Day 3: chest and tris
Day 4: cardio/rest
Day 5: legs day
Day 6: cardio/rest
Day 7: shoulders
Then a rest day and we start back at the top0 -
Ah, cool. This is helpful, thanks!0
