I made a really awesome brown sugar body scrub today, and it got me thinking....maybe other people have recipes for home remedies, etc. they might like to share!! So, if you have any "non-food" recipes post them here. Here is my body scrub:

2 TBSP brown suger
2 TBSP ground oats (I used a coffee grinder to refine them so they won't be scratchy)
2 TBSP pure aloe gel or Vaseline
1 TBSP honey
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp olive oil

mix and slather on! and the best part...completely calorie free!!

    Body Mist

    6 oz distilled water
    2 oz Witch Hazel
1 Tbs fragrance oil or essential oil

Mix together in an 8 oz spray bottle and spray. This will need to be shaken before each use. I make soy candles and have a supplier that supplies an essential oil called "bug buster" that I use and spray on to keep away the mosquitos.

Tip: Vegetable oil is a great substitute for WD-40. I've used it on squeaky door hinges before. Works like a charm!

WD-40 also takes crayon and markers off of walls. I know this because my son when he was little was suddenly very quiet and I found him hiding behind our recliner drawing on the white walls (we had just moved into a newly built house). I called Crayola and they told me to spray it on a rag, wipe the rag on the wall and then wipe off the residue with soap and water. Worked like a charm. WD-40 and Duct tape are the best.

    Thanks for sharing everybody!!

I just found another recipe that I haven't tried yet:

    Sea Salt Scrub

    1 cup Sea Salt
    1 cup Cornmeal
1 cup olive oil (this seems like a lot, but maybe the cornmeal soaks it up??)

    sounds easy enough!

I had a Total Gym that was breaking and the rollers would stick. Before I worked out I use cooking oil to lube it. It does work great!
