Don't want to go back to the "old" me...

I having a really hard time with eating right. I haven't REALLY worked out in consecutive days in month. But here and there since then except the last 3 weeks because of my knees. I do have my days where I prepare my whole day out and log everything I eat even if I cheat a little (like a skinny cow ice cream) but more days I have where I just don't want to watch what I eat or log it. I just don't want to worry about how many calories that food has and just eat it. I haven't gained any weight really. However, I haven't lost any in 5 months either... that's very depressing. I still have 20 lbs to go. I've lost a total of 50 lbs so far, only about 20 of that with mfp. So yes I want to lose the weight and tone up everything and soon. Um, it's summer! :) But why can I not get with it? Why am I falling apart right now and just not caring? Maybe I should just take a week to eat whatever I want not log not exercise then weigh myself and see that I've gained like 5-10 lbs and then I'll buckle down because I refuse to gain weight. And I know I'll never be the size I was before just because if anything I DO know how to portion control my food. Even if it's bad, I still know how to stop myself from eating to much of something.

What to do. What to do. How do I get myself back? Ugh. I'm so mad at myself. But yet, I sit here and want hot wings, fried pickles and cheese sticks so bad. :( Thanks everybody for all your support and motivation so far!

I've done the same thing before. You've had some success and even though you are not to your goal, you are not feeling the drive like you had and maybe you are feeling a little content.

DON'T TAKE A WEEK OFF! I did and then 1 week became 3 and before you know it you will have gained some of it back.

Just keep trying. Read the inspirational stories on here. Try to help those who are asking for help - you are doing great! You'll get your groove back. Keep trying and don't get frustrated! You've come so far now.
  • Honey - I'm 48 years old - I've lost and gained many pounds over the years - always an issue. What I hear you saying is you are trying to lose x amount of weight and then go back to eating what you want and not exercising. In reality, to stay fit, it has to be a life- long commitment! To quote what many others have - a lifestyle change. Probably not what you want to hear - but very true. Doesn't mean you can't have your fav foods from time to time or that you have to exercise every day but you do have to stay on top of things! Hope this helps.

Don't take a week off. You'll eat whatever you want, go back to watching your calories and portions for a few weeks and then want another cheat week. Then each week will become a cheat week.

If you can't buckle down and be nose to the grindstone like you were when you lost your first 50, then do what you can. Stay on the maintainence trail for awhile and then when you've found your mojo again, start kicking it into high gear and lose those last 20.

    You'll get there! :)

Thanks everyone! Yeah I knew the take a week off wouldn't be a great idea for me. Cause your all right. It would have then been a cheat week every week after that.
