  • I find early morning workouts work best for me. I am fresh and have more energy. I find it sets me up well for the day.

I have heard that mornings are best. I am a morning person and would love to exercise then. But, my work schedule doesn't allow it. I go to the YMCA right after work.

I attempt early morning - it doesnt happen. I am sooooo NOT a morning person. Would rather stay up all night working out than get up on a morning.

I guess it's just personal preference. Unless you want to get into the whole fasted/fed workouts which I'm sure some people will. I know nothing about that though.

Doesn't matter - I work best personally in the middle of the day (which is why I love the weekends!!!) but each to their own! Same benefits - depends on how much effort you put into your workouts. Lots of people like working out in the morning as it wakes them up etc, but I just can't seem to get myself up before work, so I prefer the afternoon or evenings. I usually work out in between 5pm - 9pm.

I'm also a morning workout person for a few reasons.

    1. I have NO excuse not to do it since it's what begins my day and a late workday can't interfere with that.
    2. I know exactly what I can eat for the day since I've done my calorie burn early.
    3. I find it gives me SO much more energy throughout the day.
    4. I get it out of the way so I can enjoy the rest of my day.

Some of these tie together but that's my reasoning for it.

Because of my work schedule, working out in the evening is the only time that works for me...I have been pretty successful so far.

I agree Morning workouts are best for me. If I don't I will end up getting lazy and would put it off.

If you are working out, it is the best time. There are arguments for both sides. Personally, if I wait until then end of the day, I find excuses not to. I work out early in the morning before my brain is awake enough to make up excuses.
  • It doesn't make any difference at all. I do both, depending on my schedule.

Honestly, it doesnt really matter unless there are underlying medical conditions (trust me, they are out there).

What works best for one's lifestyle may not be suitable for another.

I wake up at 4am every day, hit the gym by 4:50am and go at-it for a good 75 minute workout. I have the luxury of showering at work and starting my day right away rather than fight for a shower at the gym (work's shower is much cleaner actually)... Its so dead in the gym, I can grab any machine and just get my rear in gear - I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

When I get out of work, its get home, get dinner going, pack my meals for the next day, make my protein smoothies and freeze them for the week as I need to make them, get laundry going when needed, and Im POOPED... I want to enjoy dinner with my husband (while he is stuck on first shift) and start all over.

Workout when its best for you.... in the end, its still exercise regardless of day or night.

I've done both.. and I prefer morning for my strength workouts because there is no one there and I get all the equipment I need when I want it.

I've read that the late afternoon is best for the human body, but that anytime an exerciser will work out consistently is fine. It has been noted morning exercisers tend to be more consistent because they get exercise out of the way before the interruptions of the day can intervene.

I don't think that my morning workouts are ever as good as ones later in the day because I'm never completely awake and warmed up. But middle of the day workouts take too long if I'm working in an office, and in the evening I'm just as likely to want to grab a beer and watch TV as work out.
