Hey everyone!

About 2 weeks ago I ran a 8-mile PR at about 9min miles. Got home and everything was fine and later that night I developed SEVERE shin pain in my right shin (only the right). I used to run track and thought I had gotten "shin splints" before, but this is CRAZY. I was limping around for the rest of the night, iced it and took some NSAIDs. I started resting and icing it on and off and whenever I would train it would start to hurt again....not only when I put pressure on it, but even when I am doing nothing it will ache now.

Long story short, I took over a week off from training and I thought I was all "better"....ran an easy 3 miles yesterday and now my shin is in pain again. I LOVE to run and I was just starting to get serious about it and then BAM! This injury has left me so depressed and back to square one with my training and weight loss. I was wondering....

Does anyone have any experience/advice about shin splints?

I really want to get back into training so I would appreciate any advice. I do have an appointment with an Ortho doc, but it's over a month away! I can't wait that long to start training again. Please HELP.

If you rested for a week and are still in pain I'm thinking stress fracture. See your doctor.
