So I had been doing well for so long. I had foot surgery two weeks ago and not only am i bored out of my mind but I have put on 3-4 lbs. I've been trying to do some things like leg lifts and arm curls but they just don't do it for me. I've been trying, I mean trying, real hard to stick to my diet plan but it's not working. My stitches came out yesterday so I'm taking baby steps.

I guess I need a few words of encouragement to help lift my spirits.

Thanks

    Baby steps, like you said.
Even if you can't get out to walk, try to sit outside and take in some fresh air and sunlight. Those always help (biologically) to cheer me up a little.
Can you do yoga? The deep breathing helps me find a better place emotionally.

aw, sweet! :flowerforyou: you cannot fault yourself for this! you have it in you but you have to let your body heal first and foremost! before you know it you will be running a 5k

take this time to reflect on things - read - rest - research - and focus on what you are going to do when you are better, NOT on what you cannot do now. that weight is going to fly off in no time! :flowerforyou:

Girl, i know what you are going through. Two Decembers ago, I had to get a sewing needle removed from behind my patella in my knee (don't ask). I was out for a good month and a half, and had to go to physical therapy. It really depressed me, because I wanted so hard to do the things I was doing before. I just started doing things slowly again, and before I even realized it I was where I was before. Trust me, it will get better. Make sure you drink tons of water, because that will help flush your body and keep bloat at bay, plus it makes you feel fuller. Start drinking green tea too- the benefits are wonderful, and it gives you a break from plain old H2O. Whenever you start feeling down, just come on here for support and motivation, everyone on here is wonderful with that. I know you will be strong!
  • I know what you mean. I had an accident last year that set me off course. The most valuable thing that anybody said to me was to relax into the situation. Somtimes things happen to show us a new perspective. So focus your energy on healing your foot:wink: You need your feet to continue your journey, right? Baby steps. Feet first. A setback is nothing more than a setup for something greater!
I wish you health and happiness! Enjoy Life from the inside out!

Oh how I know what you are going through. I had neck sugery about 4 yrs ago and could not lift more than 5 lbs for well over 6 months. They wouldn't even let me go for walks or do any kind of excercise. When I was aloud to take my neck brace off I was like you I took baby steps at first for about 1 week, after that I had to push myself a little harder each day. Don't get discouraged you will be able to do what you really want here real soon. Don't over do it and take it slow and easy. listen to your body, your body will tell you when it is time to up your excercise. Just keep doing what you are doing and very soon you will be up and excercising like you never have before. remember that old saying patience is a vertue, well I guess in times like this we come to find out just how many patience we actually do have left once we recover. You just might want to try and think of your weight gain this way. The 3-4 lbs. just might be actual water weight. our bodies have a way of trying to keep extra water in our bodies when we are tring to recover from any king of injury, sugery or illness. So probably when you are able to get up and about more and more you will probably lose it probably real quick.

Keep your head up! Surgery is a valid reason to slack off a little. You'll get back to where you were!

Bella: How did you a get a sewing needle behind your patella?? Wow girl!

I agreee, go outside, that always helps.
Try to think of how far you've come and how that 3-4 lbs could be 10-20 if you were really letting yourself go. Recently had a friend who messed up her ankle and with stress she put on over 15lbs! SO you are doing awesome. Take baby steps, get some fresh air and take time to be proud of what have accomplished:flowerforyou:

Lol, well, this is going to sound really dumb, so please don't laugh too hard. I thought I would be Susie Homemaker and sew some Christmas stockings for Christmas. I was on our living room floor sewing away, when the phone rang, so I got up to answer it, leaving the needle sticking out of the carpet (dumb I know). I came back without remembering the needle was in the floor, and I knelt right on it. When I stood up it broke off and lodged in behind my patella. I went to the ER to see if they could remove it, but I ended up having to get surgery to have it removed. Let's just say I got A LOT of grief from my co workers for that one!

I know exactly what you are going through. I have had a few surgeries in the past and I felt like I was worthless. I wanted to work out, but was not allowed. I lost weight but lost muscle which made me feel depressed.

I am going in for a tummy tuck/neck lift on Monday...I will be out of work for 3 weeks and I know for sure I am going to feel this way again

    Hang in there!

Letting your self heal is the most important thing right now. You don't want to get worst by doing to much to fast. But I know we are harder on our selves.

Thanks guys, your words of encouragement really helped me. The next day my neighbor took me for a drive and we watched the sunset over the bay, it was beautiful, peaceful and serene.
