So i have an elliptical at home which is alright, and i just bought a jump rope, (i still suck at jumping rope without it hitting my feet, but still if i start i'll get used to it) so which should i tackle and stay with, as in time efficiency at calorie burning?

The jumprope is more intense for certain, but you can't sustain a jumprope forever.
I'd alternate - the jumprope would be great interval training, and the elliptical for sustained endurance building. Plus having two to choose from should help reduce boredom.0 -
Do both. Switch things up when you get bored with one. Also, if you suck at jumprope like I do, you can always "pretend," just fold the rope, put it in one hand, jump and swing the arm with the rope- still the benefits, just needs a little less coordination.0

^This! Don't limit yourself to one type of exercise, its better to keep mixing things up.Do both. Switch things up when you get bored with one0
