Calories....right or not?

So MFP put me at 1200 calories to lose 1lb per week (total of 30lbs), I bumped it to 1400 (after talking to some co-workers who are dieticians, not experienced in weight loss though). Sometimes I can stay within 1400, but I usually go over (no more than 100 cal usually). I have tried two different BMR calculators one told me 1591 calories and another told me 1750. So am I good at 1400 or what? Nothing is happening I feel fatter every day.......

MFP did the same for me, but I adjusted it to losing only 1/2 a pound a week, it is better for me in the long run, and I have consistently been losing it slowly but surely. I am at 1520 cals a week and I love it. I only have about 30 to lose as well. There are two different BMR scales, I don't know why, I'm sure someone else can clear it up who knows more.

I would encourage you not to go under 1200, I did that and much less for 3 months and felt awful, as well as not losing any weight, and 3 weeks ago I increased my calories, and am now seeing some inches come off. Read the threads on the group listed-eat more to weigh less and you will save yourself some frustration. Just eat GOOD food, and a good exercise program and stick with it! Make sure to take your measurements and check occasionally.

Is it good to try to keep yourself under the daily calories goal by 300-400 calories or should we consume all the calories?

The goal includes a deficit, if you set it right. So eating under it will give a bigger deficit than planned.
