HRM issues

I recently purchased a Polar ft7... I have been using a Garmin forerunner 305 when I run/bike outside... I purchased the ft7 so I could do Insanity and get an accurate calorie burn count.... I liked seeing the results... 500+ each day...

today I decided to double watch it on my run.... so I put on two heartrate straps... my forerunner and my polar watch... and ran my normal route (walk/run).... a little over 3 miles and my garmin returned what was expected (and what most calculators would give me)... 532 calories.... the polar however was 738....

Why is it so high?

I never hit my formula calculated max heartrate of 181.... I did hit 178 however... and my avg was 143 ... my guess is the levels including the max hr are not accurate and its throwing things off...

has anyone found a place that explains how to fix this? while I would love to use the extra 200 calories burned... I dont think its as accurate as the other watch (that doesnt use HR to calc calories burned)...

thanks in advance
