I was told by my nutritionist to cut out my carbs for two weeks. Does anybody know a reasonable amout of carbs I should have?
Btw is away on vacation & I was a little overwhelm last time we met.
Thank you

I think 70-100 seems like a good low number. I eat about 170 and I honestly don't even pay too much attention to carbs. MFP has my goal at like 230 which is high for me so I don't worry about it. The Atkins page has a list of good low carb foods with a low glycemic index if you need ideas.0

Under 100. Personally speaking, if i go under 50g per day i get cranky and i'm less functional and have less energy, but about 80-100 is no big deal. How much to you generally get per day?
I don't crave carbs like some people do so i'm just natually low-carb, it's not really something i focus on too much.0 -
IF a nutrtionist told you to cut carbs why didn't they give you an amount to cut? Are you looking at eating only Protein and Fat for two weeks?
Are you cutting down?
Right now 40% of my calories is Carbs, a week ago I was aiming for 35% of my calories to be carbs.
I am not sure the nutritionist gave you all you need to know.0 -
Carb cutting is really another way of cutting your total amount of calories you consume in a day. Cutting carbs can be detrimental to your goals depending on what they are. Your activity level and workouts will dictate what you should be consuming for carbs. I agree with DeniseB0711, they should have given you a number.
With more information about your body type like weight, height amount you workout, we would then be able to give you a basic number.0 -
I have a ton to lose & to be honest i was confused by half of what she said ( Friday afternoon before her vacation.) I have lost before but was unable to keep it off. I log everything & so far I have kept it under 75 g based on a 2500 cal. day. I am white & black kinda guy so I wasn't sure if cutting out carbs meant 0.0

above about 50-70g/day you will be reasonably "normal", below that you're likely to be ketogenic and have a different set of things going on - like zero hunger, needing more salt, etc.
Avoid diet foods and low fat / lean things, low carb is high in fats & oils.0 -
What oils are we talking about?0

If you are really low-carbing then you can eat healthy fats.
From the Atkins website:
There are no carbs here, but keep in mind that the serving size is approximately 1 tablespoon. 1.Butter
2.Mayonnaise – make sure it has no added sugar
3.Olive oil
4.Vegetable oils – Those labeled “cold pressed” or “expeller pressed” are especially good and olive oil is one of the best. Canola*
Walnut
Soybean*
Grape seed*
Sesame
Sunflower*
Safflower*
*Do not allow any oils to reach overly high temperatures when cooking. Use olive oil for sautéing only. Use walnut or sesame oil to dress cooked veggies or salad, but not for cooking.0
