Am I the ONLY person this has happened to?

I'm a college student. Today is finals day, and I'm super stressed out.
Today sucked. I'm having a pity party.
I also think this makes for a funny story so here goes!

Today I had my EPIC final for my Critical thinking English class (it ended up being 11 full pages of writing). I stayed up all night studying, got maybe 4 hrs sleep...
Anyway, in the middle of the final I had to pee so I went to the restroom, and my phone was in my back pocket.
I took it out and placed it on the toilet paper holder thing.

When I got up, I guess I brushed against it and MY PHONE WENT SLIDING OFF OF IT, AND INTO THE TOILET.
I tried to grab for it but it was too late. And the impact knocked the back cover and battery out.
So of course I try to rescue it and plummet my hand into pee-water :grumble:

Well, I know you're thinking "Oh, no big deal, just take your phone out and put it in a bad of rice later (it works)!"

Two words:
Automatic flush.

This is my life.

OH NOOOOOS! I would be ready to kick something.

I knocked my pedometer in a public toilet.....but it was before I used the toilet and it wasnt auto flush. When it dried out, it started working again. I had just bought it 2 days before. So you arent alone. :)

I used to work for a cell phone company, in the business division (we dealt with customer care for company phones).

I would get a minimum of 3 calls a day for dropped phones in toilets.

    You CAN save it:

    *remove battery right away
    *rinse under clean water
    * put battery and phone in a bag of rice/silica gel beads (those packets of DO NOT EAT that are in everything) for 24 hours
*put battery back in phone and ta-dah!

DO NOT try and 'see if it still works' before the 24 hours, or after you drop it in the toilet, this shorts out the battery/phone.

I dropped my phone in the food waste bucket when I was cleaning it, so it got dropped into water that had stinky moldy food chunks in it. It still worked!

    I almost cried.
The only other girl in the restroom probably thought I had mad diarrhea at first

I am totally cracking up. Sorry.

I got a phone call from a friend last Thanksgiving. She was in Wal-Mart with her mom. Her mom went to the bathroom. Her keys fell out of her pocket into the toilet. Auto flush! So, they were there waiting for someone to pick them up.

Did you at least have insurance?

I did this, except without the auto-flush toilet. It was in my front pocket and when I stood up and started pulling my pants up it just tumbled right out into the pee water. Ugh. Unfortunately, my phone did not come back from the dead.

That happened to my reading glasses just last week at work! Okay, yes I was reading as I pooped! As soon as I stood up, plop, right into the bowl and down the sewer. Even if it wasn't an auto-flush, they were getting flushed anyway. LOL!!!

I had this happen with my IPOD once at the gym. It auto flushed but I managed to ninja snatch it just in time. After that I just stared out it for a few minutes as my heart recovered from the mini heart attack . Sorry about your phone. Hopefully your carrier can help you out in some way toward getting a new one.

If i was a carrier provider and you called me with this sad, but very funny story i would feel bad for you and set you up with another phone. Call it a pitty gift :) but whatever you can get - right.

I really hope you "A" that exam!!!

I was on my first date ever. My older sister let me borrow her cell phone. She dropped me and the guy off at the movies, and I had to pee. It was in my back pocket, I pulled my jeans up, d down and flushed it went....

Not only did my sister get mad, she had NO WAY of calling her little 12 year old sister to make sure she was okay, and i was so nervous I didnt tell the guy the whole time what happened until I found my mad sister circling the parking lot.

Hahahaaa. It happens to the best of us. :)
