I'm reading a book titled, "Food, The Good Girl's Drug" (I think that's the title, by Sunny Sea Gold). The subject is binge eating in women and the author interviewed psychologists who specialize in eating disorders. Anyway, the book claims "stress" is a general term used to describe many different emotions. Were you frustrated? Overwhelmed? It's important to figure out precisely what the emotion was that triggered a binge because each should be addressed differently by you, without binging.

Anyway, I'm a recovering binge-eater and I've been in cognitive behavioral therapy for 3 months. Therapy and reading popular binge-eating disorder books have helped me tremendously. You need to figure out what you're trying to "treat" or avoid by binging.

That's a long and non-specific response but I suspect you need to learn more about binge eating and yourself.

Also, healthygirl.org is Sunny Sea Gold's website and she has a lot of helpful resources.

I just checked out that book online. It looks good. I think I might get it. Do you think it's pretty helpful?

I'm only 1/2 way through it but so far it correlates with everything I've been learning in therapy. My only complaint is the author seems to go out of her way to market the book to young women. However, everything in the book so far is relevant to women of any age.
