Hello
I am new to this site but not new to weight loss journey! Like many of you, I am struggling to lose this weight! I have three children my youngest is 8 months and I have not dropped the baby weight & I breat feed!!! I want to lose 25-30lbs by end of Aug.
I have tried excerciseing but admit I need to pick it up! If anyone is willing to be friends with me and be accountability/motivation partners that'd be great!
I also am looking forward to gaining some tips on ways to melt the fat away. I do like to snack and I love sweets. I am trying to stop snacking by chewing gum and staying busy. I work in an office setting so its pretty mundane. We go on walks often i have started going to the gym more often as well.
Thanks for all the advice on here and thanks for reading! I look forward to meeting ya'll

To me, the process of going from unhealthy to healthy is a gradual thing. If I turn this into something I hate to do, I wont be able to keep doing it regularly. That's why if I really want something a little less healthy, I'll eat it. If I really don't feel like working out, I don't. But if it's something I can talk myself into, I do. Then it's like a game, a challenge. I enjoy seeing my calorie intake come in under my goal, but just a little. I'll work out to give myself a tasty snack. And if I have a bad day where I blow my calorie limit out of the water, oh well! I get up the next morning with a smile and try again. That's just how it works for me.0

I work in an office, 12 hour shifts. Best thing I can suggest is bring in lots of snacks. Carrots, celery and broccoli with a small tupperware of ranch. Sliced apples, peeled oranges. Avoid juice and soda, instead drink water with the vitimin powder. Lots and lots of water.
Switch out the snacks so you don't get bored, but keep bringing them. Don't order out or go out for lunch, but bring food. If your office has a blender, make smoothies!
Walking is good. You're supposed to get up and walk around at least once an hour, but sometimes that's hard. I try for at least 15 mins of walking around at the office, and it's hard for me to get up and around...
Just being here is half the effort! I know you'll do great!0 -
Hi-
I am also on here, started by wanting to loos 40 lbs. I am now down to wanting to loose 30 lbs. I started gung-ho and then went back to my bad habits. I recently cut out fried foods, replaced my brown and white sugar with agave nectar, got rid of all white things in my fridge/cupboard(white bread, pasta, potatoes, etc.) and replaced my oils with olive, coconut and mustard oils.
I also got an HRM(Heart Rate Monitor) and attempt to log at least 700-800 calories a day. One trick that has also helped a LOT for me is by drinking one full glass of water before I eat anything. I follow up any eating by brushing my teeth immediately after(it has resolved my desire to then snack as the taste from the toothpaste kills my desire for sweets).0 -
Well as someone who has lost 30lbs using MFP:
First, don't think of this as a diet. Think of it as a lifestyle change as you are changing your lifestyle to become an even better, healthier version of yourself.
it takes some time to get adjusted, but basically you need to figure out what works best for your body. if you hit a plateau, you need to re-adjust what you've been doing until you hit another groove.
there is no right answer because, like i said, your body is unique. some people feel they need 150 grams of protein, some only get 60 grams. some exercise 6 days a week, some exercise 4. Some people do better with lots of fiber (I get 30 grams) some prefer to get 15-20 grams. a lot of people on here are low-carb friendly. I personally am not simply because I see carbs as fuel. You need to find your path and what makes you feel good. Don't be afraid to switch it up, and keep in mind that when you do change things, you may gain for a week or 2 before going back down.0 -
I have just started my own personal journey of becoming a healthier me. I want to lose 20lbs and it's the first time ever I've had to work for it so it's all new to me. The bonus is that I have a dietitian as one of my very good friends and have gotten quite a few tips over the years about the do's and don'ts.
One of the things I could offer for advice is for snacks and for something sweet try berries - blueberries, raspberries, strawberries. The blueberries especially, if you eat them one by one it's the same hand movement/habit that it would be to eat skittles or smarties and things like that so your brain is satisfied in the action of eating the food - for a lot of people snacking is a comfort habit and not because you're actually hungry so the habitual action of eating fun small junk snacks is mimicked by eating the berries. They're also naturally sweet so they'll satisfy your craving for sweet stuff. They're also SUPER healthy - blueberries being considered a super food and an amazing anti-oxidant - so you don't have to feel guilty about eating them vs. a whole bag of chips or cookies...
I also sit at a desk for a majority of the day but have made a promise to myself to do SOMETHING active every day. I make time after dinner to walk the dog....and it benefit's us both - fast paced walk for 40 minutes can burn between 200-300 calories....sweet!
I hope at least some of this helps. Good luck on your journey!0 -
I want to lose about the same! And I'm a mom with three kids as well! Good luck!0
