Up until now we have not had or been able to afford a gym membership so I have began running and done 2 Jillian Michaels DVDs. Well now we are getting a membership to the YMCA.

Today in the mail I received my kettlebell workout dvd. My husband thinks I wont hardly use it because I'll have the Y. I'm trying to decide if I should keep my dvd or send it back for NROWL and work on that and classes at the Y and still running of course. Thoughts I cant make up my mind. I was super excited to try kettlbells and from what I can find our YMCAs don't have any kettlebell stuff.

If it's something you think you will enjoy and do in addition then I say keep it. I have a gym membership and I work out at home. One of the things I do is get a DVD from Netflix before I buy it to see if I really like it. If I do then I purchase it.

First, I'm not by any means an expert, so there's no need for you experts out there to slam me!

I've used kettle bells a few times under the watchful eyes of a personal trainer. I really like them a lot! But, in my opinion and the opinions of both of the trainers I've worked with, it's super easy to use incorrect form with them and, thus, super easy to get injured if you don't know what you're doing.

Since you seem to be new to exercising and might not be an expert at knowing when something "hurts good" vs. just hurting, I'd advise against doing a kettle bell workout on your own. Regular dumb bells are awesome, too, and will help you get strong with much less risk.

    HTH. Enjoy your gym time!

Keep it. You can use it on days you don't go to the Y! Always great to have options and change things up!!

I really like how kettlebells exercises work the whole body. A while back, I asked about NROL4W and some ladies said that some of the lifts after phase 1 were hard to follow and suggested starting strength or stronglift 5x5. I like having the options of the kettlebells for quick workouts. So my choice would be to keep the kettlebells and look into stronglift 5X5 for lifting at the Y.
