Food scales

I'm interested in buying a scale, but I'm not sure if it will help me on my journey. Who has used a food scale during their journey? Has it helped? Or is it just easier to count calories?

I would be lost without mine. For example you need to know the calories for a piece of fish, the weight is hard to eyeball. Also, if you are looking up calories for a medium apple or a large potato my idea of large is actually two large potatoes so to find out the weight is really important. It is amazing how far off my guesses have been without using the scale. Or measuring spoons etc.

The food scale has been a HUGE help for me. I actually would be lost in my day with out it! I weigh everything! It really puts things into perspective on what i am eating.

    Yes.

Some people suck at eyeballing portions, so scales would def help. I wish I could justify buying a digital one, but the cheapo ones do the job decently.

I have a cheapo scale from Kmart that I use all the time. I was amazed at how off I was in guessing how much the food I ate weighed. The one I got was under 10 bucks although I will eventually buy a nice digital one.

I use mu food scale all the time and initially it was horrific to
realise just how off I was in my guesstamations.
I got a cheap digital food scale from Ikea and it's working just fine
(even though my husband managed to drop it yesterday).
    Good luck

I bought an inexpensive digital one at Target figuring I probably wouldn't use it and I didn't want to spend/waste a lot of money on one. I'd be lost without it .Takes all the guess work out eating the proper portions. It also not only shows but teaches you what a 4 oz piece of chicken looks like. I plan on buying a nicer one but this one is still working well after a couple of years hahaha :)

I bought a $20 digital food scale last year. Originally it was for weighing pinewood derby cars :) but once that was over, I got to use it for food :D

what I found was interesting is measuring things like proteins. If I grab what I *think* is 2 ounces of shaved turkey for my salad, it might only be an ounce, and I am cheating my body out of those nutrients. Now I use my scale daily to make sure I am getting what I am logging!

Buying a food scale and measuring cups is a no brainer. We use them everyday for just about every meal.

I have a cheap one that I have used for years, one that I bought at a second had store that goes up to 3 pounds as well as a new digital one. I use all of them a lot. The big ones help for recipes that are for 8 or 12 people. I cook large amounts of a recipe so I can freeze smaller portions that fit into my diet. It would be impossible to calculate my nutrition with out my scales.
