Proper form question

When doing exercises such as
*lunge split jumps
*jump squats
*High knees

or anything that involves a jumpy type of movement. How are you suppose to properly land on your feet? Today I did lunge split jumps and then high knees.. Something happened to a muscle in my calf. I freaked out I did something serious, but since it's beginning to feel a little better now, I am hopeful it's not that bad. However, in order to prevent this from happening again, i am wondering what proper form is.

Thanks I appreciate any advice.

I don't do lunge jumps or jump squats, but when I do high knees I come down on the balls of my feet because then I can spring my leg back up quickly. No idea about the other two :/

You should always be sure you warm-up properly before exercise, and also stretch. Stretching helps prevent injury. (There are arguments that static stretching isn't good for you, but there are active stretches you can do.)

I would Google proper form for these things. I know you want to land softly, on the balls of your feet, but maybe seeing either some diagrams or videos of proper form would help.
