Workout "parties" for the ladies?

Hi everyone. I'm just verbalizing an old idea of mine here. Those of you who want fitness and exercise in your day, but are not sure how to make it routine, would you ever consider something like a workout "party" like a tupperware party? Inviting several ladies over to your home to do a workout led by a personal trainer? Meeting 2-3x a week at various locations? Public Parks? Homes? I know a lot of women who are intimidated by the gym, know they need a change, but are not sure what to do. Maybe conclude the workout with a clean-eats recovery shake "bar"?
I'm just looking for some insight.
Thanks!

Are these like those parties where they test and sell naughty toys?0
-
Definitely. Only issue I see is space. i know I can barely find room to workout in my house. there is no way I could fit other people in there too. Like the park idea though.0

My running group does this for cross training days. We all chip in and pay for a boot camp instructor/trainer 2-3 times a month. Members take turn hosting it at different houses and sometimes its at a park, depending on the amount of space needed. Then, we eat brunch or breakfast somewhere. We just don't call it a party, not sure that it really has a name.0

But yes, if I didn't belong to a gym or do my own home workouts I might consider grouping up with friends for something like that.0 -
I think that sounds like a fab idea!0

I would totally do this!0

Depends. We would be paying the trainer for his/her time, right? How much will it cost per session and how does the trainer get paid if I'm the only one who shows up? :noway:0

It sounds like a good idea but it would be hard for me to find the time. Plus, for a Tupperware party you usually get together with people you know/friends. With meeting 2-3 times a week, it would be hard for everyone to be free at the same time. So then you get strangers for the "party"and you basically have a traveling fitness class. It would be fun, but (for me anyway) unrealistic.
Add babysitting and alcohol during the workout party and then you'll have something...0 -

Our sessions are $10.00 per person/per session. At least 6 people have to commit to coming when we have them. However, there are over 100 people in my running group, so depending on the the day there are at least 20-30 people that show up. When we are going to have a lot we usually have to meet at someone's house who has a basement, if we are doing yoga for runners. If we are doing something more physical, definitely the park.0 -
Love the idea!!0

I prefer to workout alone, which is why I don't like classes at the gym.0

Yes! I'd love it if we had a person to lead workouts in the park. Even though I'm a gym member I'm always trying to get outside on my lunch hour to do something. Today I walked, the other day I ran, and soon I will be biking. I think it is a great idea!0

Interesting. I must have the flakiest friends on the planet, because I just know they would commit and not show up. I can see a large group for running being a great idea.
So how do you collect this $10 from people? At a gym it is easy, the room is there, the teacher/trainer is there. If you're meeting at random places, do they have to bring cash? And, really? Six commit and six show? I'm such a cynic :laugh:0 -

Ha, Ha!! I can totally understand what you are saying. If they were my regular friends, then they wouldn't be reliable either. But, since these are all women from my running group, they all have different fitness goals plus its a great social outing. When we meet, there is a sign in sheet and one of the running group leaders collects the money as people sign in. If you know for sure that you are going to come for the entire month, you can go ahead and pay for the month (cash, check, charge- they have a slide machine that hooks onto a cell phone). The personal trainers that we use, request that at least 6 show up, at least 3 times a month- I'm sure so that can make a certain amount. But, its always more unless it's close to a holiday. Of course, some people say they are coming and then don't show but b/c all 100+ are invited, it just works out that there are always more than enough people. Sometimes too many!!0
