After just finding out on another thread that I was measuring my pasta incorrectly(therefor greatly underestmating my calorie intake) I'm wondering if there is anythign else I'm screwing up on and taht's why my loss has slowed down so much??
Just makes me nervous, I was eating about 100 calories less then I was supposed to before just incase I was wrongly entering something( I figued I'd rather be short then be eating to much) but now I'm thinking I'm not eating enough!

this is why I was eating a little under, but now I'm thinking that might not be the best decison.

My problem with not loosing weight has been the not eating enough part! If you don't eat enough your body holds onto fat.

Shanta, the food scale is a wonderful thing. I have one at home and at work. Get one that has the ability to measure in "grams" as well as ounces. My "eyeballing" technique has been known to let me down, aka doesn't work!

The box of pasta should tell you whether the serving amount is dry or cooked. I just go by that. If you cook 2 servings according to directions, then you know that half of whatever you cook is 1 serving.

    Hi Daisy,

I measure dry and use the "gram" weight. This has helped me tremendously.

Thanks guys! It all seems so simple until you realize you've been recording something wrong, just made me really scared that I was screwing up other things as well:ohwell:

  • I just try to stay away from pasta as much as possible. :ohwell: I think I will go pick up a scale too. I've been going to the gym more and using a heart monitor so I know more closely what I am burning but haven't been losing for the past few weeks. It's hard to eye ball the food and think I know what I am eating. :ohwell: Back to doing better.

    Daisy,

I'm of the opinion that the calories in foods we eat is only an estimate. Every exercise we do only gives us estimated calories burned.

Pride yourself in knowing you are doing better now than you were previously. Don't obsessively focus on exact measurements. If you are continuing to lose weight, you are doing something right.

i love my scales! I have one I use for cup type measurements - liquids or soft stuff and one for solids that's just flat. I LOVE THEM!!!!
