Willpower (or lack of) !!!

I've never written a proper forum post before so apologies if I ramble! I have been using MFP for a few years now on and off and find it really helpful. However one thing that never fails to let me down is my self! I have been very determined recently, feeling good about my progress, however just by having the long weekend (England- Queen's jubilee!) and changing my habits by relaxing and celebrating I feel like I have let myself down. And once I begin to to feel that way I just continually sabotage my own diet, this week I have given up on exercise and eaten junk!

Can anyone to relate to this and advise how I can stop myself from continually repeating this cycle?!

I am also going on holiday for the last week of this month and so I am pressurising myself to look good for then! Just find it difficult to see the positives surrounding my weight as I continue to compare myself to how I looked 3 years ago (at least 40 pounds less) which just depresses me! Particularly when i'm trying to decide what clothes to take on holiday when hardly any of them fit anymore :(.

Also I would love some more friends on MFP so feel free to add me :)
Thanks to anyone who reads this :)

  • Hi =)

Don't beat yourself up over bad days/weeks etc. Everyone at some point or another, goes through this. I have been on my "journey" now for 3 years, and i have fallen off the wagon completely, BUT, wether it is a day later or a week later, i remind myself why i started, what i want and who i want to be, and i wake my booty up & get back on track. That on its own is a HUGE NSV for me, because the old me, would of fallen off and then said screw it, whatever...& went right back to my old, unhealthy, lazy ways!
And the past is the past all we have is the present & looking forward the the future. So don't look back and let that discourage you. If you choose to look back let that inspire you and push you to be better =)
  • definitely been there. i try to remind myself that setbacks are inevitable, as i know i am not perfect, but that what happens after a slip up is what really makes the difference. a day or a week of indulgence isn't going to undo all your hard work, but a year might do it... just try to remind yourself that the sooner you get back on track the less work you will have to do down the line to fix it. i also think that the more you pick yourself up after a fall the easier it will become after future screw ups... progress adds up. just look back at how you were a few years ago and think about whats improved since then.... in the next few years even more improvements will come.... so long as you don't give up!

Thanks for your replies, it's really good to surround the situation with a much more positive outlook as you have, I'll make sure to come back and read this post whenever I feel like giving up!
