I started Body 4 Life Monday. So I'm on day four! Just curious if anybody else out there is doing this same thing? Or if anybody has and what they think about it?

It's a "lifestyle". Bill Phillips is the writer of the books. There is a website too. I love the Eating for Life cookbook. Basically, you eat five to six "mini" meals throughout the day with a good balance of protein and carbs, adding a veggie to two of those meals. Intense cardio for 20 minutes three days a week and 30-45 min of strength training the other three days. You have one free day to eat whatever you want and not to workout. It's a very "clean" eating diet. I have several friends that lost weight on it, so I decided to take the 90 day challenge. I recomend checking out the website.

A coworker did this several years ago and got ripped. Hubby did it too and lost quite a bit of weight but didn't stick with it to the ripped stage.

    Good luck with it. :drinker:

    I did this!! Loved it.
I didn't purchase any of the shakes or protein bars though, just checked out the book. It was a fantastic program. I lost about 10lbs in 3months. I didn't count cals, just ate clean. I remember lifting heavy and doing the pyramid style workouts. I used Cathe Friedrichs Pyramid workouts for the lifting, then did all of my HIIT's on the treadmill!

It was a great learning experience for me. He introduced the 6mini meals to me and the fact that lifting heavy doesn't mean 'bulk' it means fatloss!

I did it too, a LONG time ago, and it was a great learning experience! I did use some of the protein shakes and the bars. I lost a lot of weight and felt really great about myself. The before and after pics are so motivational!!

I am a huge fan of the Eating for Life cookbook. Its sooo yummy!!

Following the Body for Life plan is the only way I have ever successfully lost weight and maintained that weight loss. I will be beginning it again in 2 weeks. It's amazing and really is a lifestyle vs. a diet. Life just got in the way over the past few years and I became lazy and reverted to old bad habits so I have a ways to go again, but that's okay. I'll get there and stay there this time!
  • I have been wanting to try this...I just found the book but only hard back, $40, so I didnt get it. I ordered it from amazon so I will start soon.

I did it about 7 years ago, mostly the exercising part, and I loved it. It did work really well but just like beckyi88, life got in the way, became lazy, reverted to old bad habits too so of course, I have gained 60lbs since then but I will be incorporating it back into my routine soon. I was wondering if Bill Phillips had revised a newer edition of the book and if anything had changed.

There is a Body for LIFE for WOMEN by Pamela Peeke. It is very similar, and I believe written with Bill Phillip's encouragement and help. It adds the reality of fluctuating hormones for women and their effect.

I lost 100 llbs with it. I loved it. I used to weigh 300llbs+ (I wouldn't weight myself anymore- even at the doctor). In about five months I lost 100llbs and have kept it off until I got sick. We're thinking I have Cushings so my case is very very specific.

The protien shakes and bars aren't the important part. Just get any protien shake you like and use it. Body for life is so much more than that. It's truly changed my life. I don't have the same relationship with food that I used to. It's now just fuel- no more no less. Plus it got me away from eating 'diet' food that did NOTHING for my weight loss.

The exercise program is golden- use it even if you don't follow the diet plan. I still use the B4L workout four years later and it is wonderful. I never get bored and am always challenged.

    Good luck! :drinker:
