HRM VO2Max question

Options
I have a Polar F11 (I know--I would have been happy with the F4 but my brother LOVES me alot and it was a gift). Anyway I had slacked off with my logging when I needed a new battery, then I didn't bother with a new "OwnIndex" test and just used the default.I'm 62 with a resting HR of 56 and pretty fast recovery, the default for my age, weight was 24. I finally did the resting test and it's 38--which is elite for someone 50 years old--this is what I got last time I did the test too. So I'm in pretty good shape in the cardio department.
My question is that since I adjusted the HRM with the new test I seem to be burning more calories. It could be that I'm doing more hills and more "wogging" but I've gained a 100 calorie burn per hour on average. Is this a result of the testing?
BTW--Polar uses this test as a type of VO2max.
