Has anyone heard of this program? (Sounds like b.s. to me)

My friend is starting a workout program where she lifts weights at a very slow pace for just 20 minutes. The only catch is that she is only supposed to do this twice a week... which would total just 40 minutes a week working out and lifting. No cardio. Just 40 minutes.

She said apparently this is a way to lose a ton of weight. It sounds like a hoax to me.

I forget what the name of the workout program is, but she said a Dr. Darden created it.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of this? Has anyone even had any results with this? Personally, I am extremely skeptical and just want to know if she is wasting her time.

There's not much info to go off of but if I had to guess I'd say it garbage. Most lifts should be explosive on the concentric to a certain degree, not taking your own sweet time. Unfortunately if she's following a good diet she's going to lose weight but be reinforced by a false-positive of using this goofy weight lifting program when in essence it's probably more the diet than anything.

I did a google search on Dr. Darden and it looks like his program is based around high intensity. Unless there is one I didn't see, you're friend isn't sure about what she is doing.

Dr. Darden worked with Arthur Jones (founder of Nautilus) in the 70's. He's a proponent of HIT (high intensity training) where you do one set to failure of a few exercises each workout. The focus is on going to complete failure and working the entire body each workout....only 2-3x per week. He's also anti-cardio. Some people have made impressive gains following his methods, and others haven't. If you're crunched for time, I think it's worth a try.
