I'm new to this change of lifestyle so please bear with me.

I'm using the tool provided to make sure i hit my calorie goal of 1200 every day, and I was struggling to hit it on same days because I'm often thinking I need to eat nothing but plain grilled meat and many veggies.

Today I added a few healthy ( ish) snacks and am now looking to hit 1200 but.... to my knowledge I need that as a bare minimum without the exercise bonus ofc but I wonder how do I figure out what I should be having as a maintenance weight? How far above the 1200 + exercise cals can I safely go and still lose weight?

I'm 13 stone and want to hit 11 stone. I'm not in a hurry. It'll come when it comes, but I'm just curious.

If you wanted to find out what your own maintenance level is, you would need to experiment by adding a small amount of calories each day until eventually, you no longer lose any weight, but you do not put any on either - this is maintaining.

I eat real food, just smaller portions. You don't have to starve yourself to lose weight. 1200 is really low - add in some nuts, avocado, sugar free pudding or jello. Plus eat back those calories. If you can't sustain this lifestyle, its just a diet, not a way of life.

If the tool gave you the 1200 it did so based on a weight loss rate you gave it. 1 lb/week for example is a deficit of 500 calories a day.

So if you said 1 lb/week you should be able to overshoot by a couple of hundred, but you'll only know in practice as the whole thing is based on estimates of the population not measurements of you.
